A driver’s license is one of the important and practical documents for every person, and obtaining it involves various stages. If we reside in another country, obtaining a license can be more difficult and complicated. Obtaining a driver’s license in Turkey also has its own complexities, which are important to know for individuals who intend to reside in Turkey.

Benefits of obtaining a driver’s license in Turkey:

1. This country’s driver’s license is valid in over 80 countries worldwide.
2. You can use it to rent or purchase a vehicle.
3. Obtaining a Turkish driver’s license does not involve complicated steps.
4. The license is useful when seeking employment and getting hired.
5. A Turkish driver’s license is an important identity document and can be used as identification in official departments.

A driver’s license in Turkey is considered one of the important and practical documents. This license is issued for 5 and 10 years and can be used for driving in European countries. A driver’s license is used as an identification card in many daily affairs and can be utilized. For Iranians who have problems with registration on many foreign websites, it can also be helpful. This is because on Turkish residency cards (Kimlik), Iranian nationality is mentioned, which can cause the verification request to be rejected on many different websites.

-Using the Turkish driver’s license in financial transactions and registering user accounts on foreign websites:

Obtaining a Turkish driver’s license as a valid identification document can be used, especially given the sanctions and financial restrictions imposed by some countries, such as Iran. This document can be of great value and give you access to services and facilities such as registering user accounts on foreign payment and sales websites like Amazon, etc. After opening a bank account in Turkey, you can activate your Amazon account and other similar services using your Turkish driver’s license. Also, this document counts as an identity document like a national ID card in Turkey and provides you with facilities such as access to banking services and service centers. On the contrary, this nationality is not mentioned on Turkish driver’s licenses, which makes it easy to register and verify on these websites and applications without any problems.

Obtaining a driver’s license in Turkey is possible through three methods:

1. Obtaining an International Driver’s Permit: This is the simplest and most common method. To obtain an International Driver’s Permit, you can visit the offices of the Tourism Association in Iran and submit your application. This permit allows you to drive in Turkey for six months, and you can obtain it online or in person.

2. Converting an Iranian license to a Turkish one: Individuals who previously had a driver’s license in Iran can use this method. For this purpose, you must translate your Iranian license and get a Randevu appointment. Then, by providing the required documents, you can obtain a Turkish driver’s license.

3. Training and Exam: Individuals who do not have a driver’s license and do not use the above methods can obtain a Turkish driver’s license by participating in training courses and passing the relevant exams.

These methods depend on your conditions and situation, and you should choose the best method according to your circumstances.

Considering the current conditions and the information provided regarding obtaining a driver’s license in Turkey, I add the following information to the “More Information” section:

– Obtaining an International Driver’s Permit from the offices of the Tourism Association in Iran is one of the easier ways to drive in Turkey.
– Converting an Iranian license to a Turkish one is also a method that individuals who have an Iranian driver’s license can use. Translating the license and providing the required documents are among the steps of this method.
If you are eligible, a Turkish driver’s license will be issued to you. After obtaining it, you must register the Turkish driver’s license at the Population Directorate (Nüfus Müdürlüğü).
Participating in training classes is suitable for individuals who are 16 years old and have never driven before. In this method, the applicant must register at driving schools. After completing the training stages, practical and written exams are held. If you can achieve a score of at least 70 in these exams, you will pass, and your license will be issued.
If you fail the driving tests, you can retake the test a maximum of 3 more times. If you fail again, you must request the driving school to extend the test for you 4 more times. If you fail again after 8 attempts, you will need to apply again to participate in driving training classes from the beginning.

First Step:

1. First, you must translate your Iranian license. If you do not have a translation with you, you can visit the MIKHAK website and upload a scan of your license on the site and wait to receive a tracking code. The confirmation of this translation will be sent to you via the email address you entered on the site.

2. After receiving the confirmation code, you must go to the Iranian embassy in whichever city you reside and receive the translated license with the embassy seal and the confirmation of your Kimlik.

3. Once you have received the translation of your license or had the translated license beforehand, contact 199 or use the relevant website to go to the Population Directorate (Nüfus Müdürlüğü) where you reside to apply for a Randevu appointment.

4- In this stage, you must prepare the following documents:

3. One passport-sized photo with a white background.
4. The document translated by the embassy.
5. Application letter (this letter will be prepared for you by the officer at the Population Directorate).

After preparing these documents, attend your Randevu appointment at the Population Directorate of your place of residence. A file will be created for you. Then your documents will be confirmed, and you will enter the next stages, which will take approximately one month.

After receiving confirmation from the Population Directorate, you must prepare the mentioned documents and apply for a Turkish license.
